Locals And Visitors Stand In Solidarity Against Breakwater Development

Hundreds of people gathered at Bastion Point on Thursday 31 January 2013 to give the strong message that opposition continues against the East Gippsland Shire Council’s proposed development at Bastion Point. Linking hands, community members and visitors stood in unity along the beach that will become a road if the proposal goes ahead. Please see our Media Release and photos of the event. Minister Gives Consent to Proceed with Construction

Today, 23 Jan 2013, the Minister for the Environment, Ryan Smith, gave consent under the Coastal Management Act for East Gippsland Shire Council to proceed with construction of the controversial ‘Option 3b’ breakwater and beach road at Bastion Point. See the Minister’s Media Release here.
